Default Changed clutch ok, but now engine management light

Hi Guys,

If some of you remember i was having trouble with a slipping clutch, i had a new one fitted ok, however the engine management light is on....and it doesnt seem to engage vtec

It accelerates as normal through to 6k, but theres definitely no change over, and just seems incredibly slow.

Im guessing a sensor as been disturbed....does anyone know which sensor to check, or how to fault find the ecu?

Thanks.
Dan.

There are a few sensors around there dan. I guess the obvious one is the speed signal.

Is the CEL flashing?

To diagnose the code you need an OBDII reader, either bought from Ebay or pop into Honda (for a fee normally )

Someone local may be able to help.

I have one but a bit far away!

Regular one that seems to get damaged when changing clutches is the knock sensor.

cam sensor? no experience with clutch changing, but i know theres a sensor at the top of the engine that requires removal, so the engine can tilt to get the g/box out.

maybe that was squished?

Would that effect vtec engagement?
I've noticed it seems to misfire a little now aswell....not all the time, just after say 5mins of running.

Lucky is right about the knock sensor too, Dan.

Yep it would probably stop VTEC. It's on the inlet manifold side in the middle of the block.

I'd put a post up and see if anyone has a code reader near you.
