A real chamois (the leather, not the antelope) should be washed out in warm water & handwash (with lanolin). Do not use nuclear detergent, at it will ruin it.
Rinse it out, lay it on the car & draw the water off like a bullfighter.
Work fron the top downwards in the direction of gravity, repeatedly rinsing. Then wipe off the remaining spots.
If you're getting streaking, you are possibly:
Using soap on the car - clear water is usually best.
Washing in direct sunlight - unlikely!
The car needs a polish and wax.
Rinse it out, lay it on the car & draw the water off like a bullfighter.

I have nothing good to say about the genuine leather chamois. They are pricey, a pain to use (left smears as you describe), and can go moldy if not stored correctly. Again, I'm posting from my experiences only.
Alternatively, I opt for the cheapest synthetic chamois available to me. Made by a no-name company called "Sunlight", it is about $14.99 CAD, or about 6.00GBP, and works very well, leaving no smears/streaks. The cloth lasts about two years, and it's age can be determined by the amount of debris that comes away from it with each wipe. I typically go over the car with a MF cloth after the chamois process to remove any remaining water drips/chamois lint.
The big blue towel is supposed to work wonders, but since it is not available here in Canada, I'm sticking to what I'm used to

This is my first post on here, so hello to everyone. I am just about to order my MY04 S2K for delivery in March.
As regards chammies etc,
When washing the car always finish by rinsing with the nozzle removed from you hosepipe this will 'sheet' the water off leaving less to dry off. Use a waffle weave MF which you can machine wash after every couple of uses.
I wouldn't recommend the water blade as however clean you think it is, just a small piece of grit settling on the finish will cause scratching of the clear coat as you pass the blade over the finish.
When dry always finish off with a quick detailer to remove any remaining streaks & add some 'pop' to your finish. very important with dark colours

why doesn't someone ring Zymol/Autoglym/Zaino and get a workshop session going at the next meet. There must be some tricks of the trade and some do's and don'ts we could all learn something from.
