I think that still looks like a very good buy Chet to be honest, in your position I'd be very tempted to go ahead with it (I had my sights set on a pre 2004 anyway).

As for the hard top on mine, I am going to look into what I can do with it and if worst comes to worst then just live with it. I want the hard top off the car as much as possible anyway!

Good luck with it, let us know when you decide on the outcome of that one!

You can swop the passenger seat for the drivers, it wouldn't be so obvious whern you get in then.
apart from the seat belt securing loop being on the wrong side etc etc......

I am sure I saw someone on here had swopped the seats, but thinking about it perhaps they swopped the covers over having rebuilt the bolsters. So a bigger job than just unbolting can't find the thread though.

Thanks for the helpful reply guys, much appreciated.

Well I sent the helpful garage an email late last night expressing my disappointment and expected a reply this evening. I was pleasantly surprised when they called me first thing this morning to discuss.

We had already agreed that the scuff on the bumper was going to be sorted out before I collect, this is still the case. They will colour match the imperfections.

As for the seat, they have agreed to get it attended to by their 'specialist' upholsterer but are not promising 100% results. They commented that they wouldn't normally have attempted to address the bolster issue but given my disappointment they will try to turn it around. I am not expecting it to vanish but any form of improvement will be just that.

That leather damage is easily repaired by a decent smart repairer geared up for leather. They effectively paint the damaged area with a special leather paint which restores the colour and the finish. Its an invisible repair if done properly and lasts well.
Thank you! I didn't know whether those types of repairs were worth going for, so its nice to know it is a viable option!

Other than that, all is looking good. The tonneau cover has never been used, it's never even been out of its original bag! Shows that the hard top has been used most of the time - exactly my plans [at least until the summer].

There is no doubt I will go ahead with it, no worries on that front, I just need to pick a suitable time to perform the pick up / drive home.

The S is no widow maker. Certainly no more so than any other similar car.

If you drive inappropriately in any conditions any car will bite you. The S is unusual these days in that it is rear wheel drive, has a limited slip diff and no (at least until the later versions) nanny-state electronics.

If you jump in an drive it (and expect it to behave) like a modern front drive hot-hatch then you will find yoursef in trouble. Maintain it properly, drive progressively and to the conditions and you will be fine (notwithstanding the other idiots on the road).

The reports of S2000's being written off I suspect will be matched by a similar increase in all marks suffering the same sorts of fate...
Really worried about the weather and me driving my first RWD back home! Thanks for the words on that front, corgi_watkins, appreciated.

A word of advice if I may. I live in central London and having had a poor experience with Chiswick, I have used Crown Bushey ever since and not been disappointed. I would recommend you consider doing the same. Bushey have far better customer service and in my opinion Chiswick play on the fact they are the biggest Honda dealer in SW London.

Bushey is only a short blast up the M1

good luck with the purchase
Thank you for the tip. Chiswicks prices did seem a bit high and I don't mind travelling for the right service; Bushy sounds like a good option.

Oh, and scumboss, maybe its worth changing the title of the thread to something more applicable...

I wouldn't read to much into the fact that the hood cover is still in its original packaging.

Few people actually bother to use them as they are fiddly to fit. I think i put mine on my first S once, and the hood cover from the current S is still in its packaging in the loft.

I was specifically after a GT as I envisage using the hard top for the majority of the time anyway - but still, a nice touch.

As you know I've made the same jump as you. They are very different to drive but the same principles apply. If you drive beyond yours or the cars limit you will crash. Take it very easy until the summer - don't VTEC in the wet etc and slowly get used to the car. Also make sure you have some decent tyres on there with a nice amount of tread, and have the geo looked at if you can.

Also consider TGM in Fleet for servicing.

Enjoy it mate.

Can't see the pics at work but I had my seats revamped Chet. Had to replace some of the leather and they swapped the padding in the seats over as the bolsters were so bad. They advised that although they pad them out the original one would be more hard wearing so better to move to the outside.

Cost about £350. I'd looked for newer seats but tbh all the second hand ones have creases etc (and I'm fussy too )

If you search for Yoshi makeover the company I used is listed on the thread and there are pics of the work.
