the bit of carpet that goes over the center console (sometimes replaced with leather covers); is this removable & machine washable?

mine looks like it's had 10years of maintenance and a bit oily/greasy/dirty so could do with a clean.

Yes it is removable. It is tricky removing the bit which goes right under the headunit though.

I fitted a leather cover, and chopped the bit under the stereo off...no one is going to see it, but made sure it was tucked right underneath the radio surround.

Get a few spare retaining clips from Halfords as they are known to break easily, even with the correct tool.

IIWU, wash it on a low heat so that it does not shrink.
