Look on the bright side, if you'd bought private or from a dodgy "specialist" you'd have very little comeback. As it is you've git your used car warranty and whatever remains of the manufacturers warranty. The orig 3 year warranty is probably worth more (covers more aspects) than the used car warranty, when was it first registered?

Make sure the dealership records this report of the problem especially if the car is getting near to its 3 year birthday.

Did they reset it and send you on your way?
Well basically what they did was bump up the existing warranty which is due to end in September, so from basically now its a year in total. Ive got the paperwork in the boot.

I basically just drove to the dealership on the off chance they would quickly have a look. The guy said about the missfire and told me the recommended fuel but the whole fuel thing is what I mentioned to him as Its the only thing I could think that caused it. He said to book it in and they will have a proper look.

My rough idle was a 'burble' from the exhausts once warm...felt like every so often they'd give a 'put' which was felt as much as heard.

If it wasn't a Honda I'd say it was pretty normal for a highly-strung engine, but...it's a Honda!

Fuel has to be pretty off to cause a misfire...

It's always the easy candidate for a dealer to get rid of you and hope it doesn't come back

I'd be very surprised if it was fuel related.

I've used high RON fuel on 1 in 3 fills (garage location not a tight git !!) and have no problems, 5 years now.

Nearly every garage now has sensors in their fuel storage tanks which advise them of water etc.

Right Ive just got back from a nice drive since the weather was holding up and the CEL has gone out... now my question is do I take it to the dealer still tomorrow or do I wait and see if it comes back on again.

The reason I ask is because does the ECU still hold the fault code after the CEL has gone out and I dont want to be charged if no fault is found!

But the garage should already have the codes as they checked it previously if I've understood you.

I doubt very much that this is fuel related as others have said and as your are in warranty I think the dealer has a duty of care to check out the basic options mentioned above, plugs etc.

Even if you were not in warranty you have rights under the sales of goods to consumers act, especially as a fault has presented itself so soon after purchase.

I'd still go in to get it all checked out just so that it is on the record, if things are not resolved to your satisfaction then this will stand you in good stead if you need to go down any legal route.

I wasnt sure if they would have logged them as it was just a quick pop in! But your probably right.

Yeah it was quite a shock to me that it was showing faults so soon after my purchase. I think it is best for them to have a look, I think ill ring them and let them know it has gone out but I still want a check.

The dealers seemed so convincing when I bought it

Right well following the garage having a look, they said they are going to order some new injectors. They said its a process of elimination since its such a hard fault to diagnose.

In the meantime they said it should be fine to drive, and I havent noticed the car lacking performance or anything. The light still hasnt come back on thankfully (70 mile drive yesterday - fair bit of Vtec) touch wood.
