Isn't there an issue here of a disclaimer?
I thought you could only use CCTV footage in legal cases when it is stated that you are being recorded otherwise it is non-admissable evidence.
I may have watched far too much Perry Mason (and yep I know that's american) as a child.
Please can someone confirm for me.
As for approaching someone you know, be fair and honest with them, but do not mention the footage at first, see how they react when approached and if they decline ownership of the issue then mention it and wlecome them in to view it.

Hi Moggy
We recently had CCTV fitted because of our neighbourhood issues - we spoke to a CCTV company who clearly told us that to stand up in a prosecution the date & time stamp would be needed. However, I would imagine that in your case, handled in a friendly way, you could be able to lever a non insurance cash payment??

Time and date stamp is only required for criminal prosecution from my experience of vandalism to a car. The image must also be clear enough that there is no doubt about facial features!
As MT says this is civil and I would recommend his approach. Piss the guy off and you could end up with a criminal vandalism case if you get my drift.
Moggy you coming to the Manchester meet on Monday, would be good to compare notes on 1stLotus day!

just been to inspect the car. I couldn't find any damage
When I look at the tape he gives it a good thump-maybe he has got them door protectors on.
There is a crack in the bumper-however I am sure this was done before monday.
I was going to rent out my house through him. Not any more-so he's got his cum-uppence in a round about way
