Cheers guys.. I've used Loctite Exhaust gasket which I think is a silicone type based exhaust sealant so its quite flexible (just didn't use enough lol).. I'm not really going to get a chance to sort it out before Sat morning either so its going to go through as is at a 'friendly' garage

I think I've lost my question somewhere in the post I think what I wanted to ask if if I can remove the springy bolts when the decat is back on? or do you guys reckon its still better to keep them on?

Tej - get the gasket, exhaust paste won't last 2 seconds in there, the engine movement will crack it out.

Well, one side it wont last 2 mins.

I used exhaust paste a long time ago on the stock exhaust and it was fine. In fact im using it at the moment for my 5zigen exhaust and decat.

It probably would crack tbh, the join between the front pipe and cat is quite different to a normal flange to flange...

You have an aftermarket manifold/decat and exhaust which probably have the normal flange to flange joins throughout

I'm as tight as the proverbial ducks arse in water and even I didn't quibble at buying it - for £8 for both it's just not worth messing around with gasket paste but if that's your thing ......

I put my stock exhaust back on last night
Make sure the spring loaded bolts are round the right way as well.
You can adjust the exhaust position with this set up.
I'd stick with the springs as it takes out a lot of vibration and engine movement
