Cat spring loaded coupling bolt things...
Can I replace these for normal bolts or is there a reason for the 'give' they provide?
Reason being, I've just put my cat back on for its MOT and theres a grand canyon of a gap and the exhaust is now blowing like a mofo (alongside the rattly cat! the car now sounds totally busted and is meant to make it through an MOT lol)
Its almost like one of the springs has gone loose? Can I know just whack on some normal bolts?

Spring loaded because the CAT gasket that goes between the downpipe and the CAT is meant to provide a degree of movement.
Have you lost the gasket?

Have tried tightening them up in turn to bring the cat closer to the downpipe?

That is the thing I suspect you are missing
It's about £3 from Honda.

Hmm.. yeah, sounds like the gasket has gone missing in that case... will have to bodge it with more gasket paste
Also, you can't actually tighten the bolt past a certain extent so theres no way of increasing the spring tension.. i tried washers, but couldn't find the right size
See what happens on Sat, but when the decat is on, I guess I should really just be able to put normal bolts in? I can't remember if theres a gap with the cat or if the downpipe and decat flanges line up without any gaps

I got both gaskets today in preparation for possibly fitting a 2nd hand CAT - i know the larger gasket often falls out in pieces when you remove the original CAT, it's best to be prepared to save you taxi ride to get it half way through the job
Tej - get the gasket, exhaust paste won't last 2 seconds in there, the engine movement will crack it out.

I'm pretty sure on the stock manifold the donut thing is build into the end of the manifold? - i remember someone on here pointing this out and they were correct.
For my tracysports manifold i had to get a donut, but a garage gave me the largest one they had, luckily it fitted it was either 60 or 63mm.
