Default CAT broken - any top tips on replacement

Hi all

A few fun and games going on with the s2000. Grateful for any useful advice...

- bought s2000 2 years ago with 3 year extended Honda warranty

- engine management light comes on in s2000

- Honda tell me it is a faulty oxygen sensor and will order a replacement and fit under warranty

- they call me today and tell me that in fact the catalytic converter has broken loose
and that is what is causing the sensor to fail. However they have performed an emissions test on it and it still passes. Therefore the CAT is not covered under the warranty and will cost £1100

Now I might call Honda warranty and argue the toss over whether they fix it - although I have a feeling they wont budge. But looking at other options for a replacement (and possibly something better than OEM) - which will also be cheaper than daft dealer prices. I see s2k tuning have some BERK CATs that seem popular on here - but would be grateful for any tips on other options, or what would be best?

cheers

cheers

You can pick up a 2nd hand oem one from the for sale section for about £50.

High flow cat. One of the traders here sells them. Scroll down a bit on this page: http://www.s2ktuning.co.uk/Exhaust.html

yes that was the one I was looking at - the Berk one from s2k tuning. Just wondered if there were any other suggestions. That one seems like a good price and a nice bit of kit though

Something like this will do the job I guess, but i can't attest to its quality: http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Ho...3e83ed3&000059

Eurocarparts seem to be a reputable supplier. I would be dead cheeky get it, and tell Honda you want them to fit it (for free) so as not to invalidate the warranty on the rest of the system. either that or kick up a stink with Honda UK till they agree to replace the OEM one.
