In general I agree with the new laws - shame it doesn't catch some illegal activity

If you p/ex a car at a dealers make sure that they, or better you, inform the DVLA as some do not bother, then you get a nasty letter asking why you have not filled in a SORN notice and demand for

I posted the correct part of the doc's back to DVLA once I got back home from a dealers after buying my wife's car (18 months ago now), to make sure I didn't get any problems. Result? Six weeks later plod was knocking at my door accusing me of all sorts of things because the vehicle had been invloved in some sort of crime. Once I had shown him (I felt like stapling them to his head!) photocopies of all the relevant paperwork (including a copy of the details sent to DVLA) he went off to sort the dealer out!

In short, the system doesn't work but it works well enough to screw another
