I had this when I bought mine.
Put the key in the ignition and turn it to II, if the green key light is missing then your immobiliser has kicked in.
Then with the key in place, 'unlock' the car again. If the light doesn't come on your immobiliser is f**ked.
Mine would turn over but fuel pump wouldn't start so the engine would not catch.
Test it by spraying ?petrol/alcohol (AA man did this, not sure what it was) into the air intake while cranking - it will start momentarily and then die again.
Can't help you with fixing i'm afraid, mine had shorted out and needed replacing - hope you don't have the same problem.

sounds like immob if it's not firing at all
it's turning over so it must be fuel/spark related
it should smell of fuel if you've cranked it for a while.. it won't do the cat any good either if it does

I had the same intermittent problem for 6 months after I had had the immobilizer repaired under warranty for immobilizing the car as I was driving it! After the repair the car just wouldn

Well still not sorted out.
Miles did they do this under Warranty or did they do this anyway??
DBM I cant recall hearing anything whilst turning the key. Will have a listen.
Lloyd I replaced the battery entirely as I though it was the problem so did disconnect.
The other thing that is running through my mind is that the alarm went I have noticed a couple of weird blips on the alarm lights shortly before this happened (not regular flashing). Not sure if this is related.
Chris G tried what you said and it seems it does not come on which might mean immobiliser.
Anyone with any ideas what an immobiliser replace will cost?
