Car shakes at 75mph+
I've just noticed that the S has started shaking at 75mph+. I've just had my alloys refurbished but looking at them, all of the weights appear to still be attached meaning that they should be correctly balanced. Also, it doesn't seem to do it all of the time.
Could it be scuttle shake? Anyone else experienced this?
It could be my imagination but I think I've only really noticed it now i've removed the hard top.

I'll check the wheel nuts then and make sure they're ok. Can't see that it'll be the alignment because that's just been done (not geo - just alignment) along with the alloy refurb. And i'd hope that if they'd refurbed the alloys, they would notice if they were oval!! Tyres are new too.
If the wheel nuts are tight, I think i'll take it and get the balancing checked.

You should always check your wheel nuts a couple of hundred miles after refitting the wheels.
Wheel balance does sound the most likely culprit but the other suggestions are possibles... rule out the wheel nuts and wheel balancing first...

Sorry I should have clarified - they balanced the wheels again after the refurb and the new tyres were fitted. Looking at the wheels, the new weights which have been added all appear to be present - that's what i meant.
It is weird though because the vibrations don't come through the steering wheel, they seem to be coming from the back of the car but I assume that this may be because the rear wheels are out of balance, not the front?

If they removed the tyres to refurb the wheels then you need to have them rebalanced. This is a no brainer.

If the wheels have weights on them though I'd assume they had been balanced, wheel weights would have been removed to refurb them.

If the vibration is coming from the back, and if you have only had the front tracking done, then it could be that the back wheels need some love.
Time for a four wheel alignment or geo?
