Smile Car just failed MOT

I can't believe it...

It failed because my Tom Tom Go 700 "obscures part of the swept area of the windscreen"...

So I removed the device from the mount and it passed...

I've ordered the alternate mount set and will mount it on one of the vents.

The strange thing is, it doesn't obscure the view... my good lady hates it when I mount the TT in her Golf because it distracts her but she's quite happy with it there in the S...

Surely the amount of your view that is obscured is related to the height of the driver?

Did they charge you a re-test fee?

So why do you need to order a new mount if its past the test? Just take it out of the mount when it comes to MOT time. You're not going to get done for it at any other time!

The 700 will not sit very comfortably in either vent, it will stick out far too much and you will hit it when driving.

Isn't it law (I use that word loosely) that you have a free retest with in a certain period of time? (I think it's 7 days)

Must have been an anorak MOT tester.

The screen is small, I can see why it would fail to be honest.

I tried mounting my PDA to the screen and ended up having it sat in the mesh holder in the passenger footwell.
