Michael thats exactely it, its nothing to do woth oversteer or tank slappers (thats a different thread for a different time) sounds like its perfectly normal, it is a strange feeling though.

I'm actually very surprised that you would ask the question if you're driving on worn tyres! Yep it's completely normal. Now prepare for the difference when you put new tyres on. It's almost as astounding as the sheer lack of grip on worn ones.

My car used to "wiggle" when I first got it with the original tyres and only 5000 miles on the clock. In the wet it was worse. In the dry only over manhole covers and large bumps. Went to powerstation.org in Tewksbury

On a 2002 you'll probably be still running Bridgestone S02's. These are remarked as going very hard for the last 2 or 3 mm of the rubber compund and this is where the problem / slippage comes in.
