Yeah, I know, but you're not permitted to say it, dissident!

To be fair, a hard-driven enthusiast one will probably suffer more problems (Esp wheelbearings and the like) than the poseur's 318 in an M-disguise, since he can barely afford the squirt to go for a drive. And there are certain pretentious areas where they ARE leased to stand on the drive!

It tends to be why you'll find a lot of puritan-spec ex-pensioner M-B 200s and Fiesta-spec S-Klasse in excellent condition, whereas the plutocrat versions are used, abused & tatty. AND there's more to go wrong; a client had a C3 100 that was so good and reliable, he got a C3 200 Turbo. Surprise, surprise, that was a PoS.

I agree - my S3 wasn't too bad, but within 3 years it had exploded it's secondary cooling fan thingummy, timing chain needed replacing, and all manner of shoddy work from the dealer including them causing a massive oil leak all over the turbo

Have had a couple of bimmers but they've never needed work doing.

Subaru garage (as I've said before) are brilliant, and I just wish they sold other marques - just Isuzu, Subaru and Triumph - because I would stick with their brands purely on their service side.

Si, just meant a bit of bad luck (windscreen?) mixed up with the other stuff.

Hmmm,
Cat is in shed, stops it wearing out.

TCT - Removed recently, cleaned, wet and dried the worm, rebuilt, refitted 1 hour tops, noise stopped. (see the link)
If it lasts 5k I'll just do it again but hope to have my sand blasting available by then.

Rear Caliper Seized - Removed, Stripped, Cleaned and Emery'd Refurbished with Service kit, 1 hour tops - About

Simon, you can get a second hand cat from a breaker for not much money, or one of the aftermarket ones Steve suggested. Or someone here might have one if they don't keep it once they have de-catted.

Hope it all gets sorted soon
