Hi all

What's the wheel cleaner of choice for our alloys, I've got some "wonder wheels" in the cupboard, but am not sure if it's going to make the wheels corrode even faster than normal.

Can I use it and be ok?

Don't do it - it's very corrosive! Just use the body work shampoo on your wheels and make sure you put a coat of wax on the wheels too - stops the brake dust from sticking!

OOOps !!! I've been using it for 4 months now. No visible problems so far. The '03 & '03 models have clear coated wheels so unless you get chips on it the actual surface of the wheel is not touched by the corrosive agent in Wonder Wheels.

I've been using it for years and never had a problem. As long as you remember its basically hydrochloric acid and its needs to be diluted pronto once the brake dust has been removed then you will be fine. Dont leave it on more than aminute or two.

I have the 2002 wheels and as the pack suggests, it should not be used on the polished surfaces. I use it on the painted surfaces only and only occasionally since my wheels are zymol'd.

I use Turdle wax Wheel cleaner, spray on rinse, then wash with ZAINO then put Z5, Z2 Z6 on Rinse off brake dust a treat then

I use nothing but Zaino wash on the car and the wheels. Like AE - I also Z5 or Z2 them followed by Z6. No probs when wash time!

I use "Wheel wax" on mine, which does exactly what it says on the tub. (smells even better than Zymol)

A pressure wash and light sponge will then remove all brake dust.

I used Mr Muscle oven cleaner to remove some really stubborn brake dust when I was using the Carbotech pads and got a right caning from people posting here - having said that, the finish on the wheels hasn't been damaged at all, which is more than can be said for the scrapes I've put on some of the spokes through my own carelessness

I've used it too. If there's a whole load of tough crud on there it's great at getting it off.

However, now I've got the volks I clean them once a week(ish) anyway so it's just a simple wash & rinse.
I'd think twice before using it on the volks anyway.
