Bye Bye BM, Hello Honda
Well, after much wailing and gnashing of teeth, I've finally parted with my BMW and large sums of money and I pick up my shiny new 2002 MC Blue S2000 tomorrow evening.
I'd like to thank you all on this board for helping me make my mind up. Threads like "Are these cars worth buying" swung the balance......well that and having a test drive in a TT Roadster Very dissapointing.
I'm getting it from Ashford Honda, has anyone else had any experience of them?
Here's hoping for a sunny bank holiday so I can run it in with the roof down!!

Welcome Neil-
What the car (apparently) lacks in badge kudos vs. the BM it makes up for in spades as a thoroughly resolved, exhilarating driving machine. You have made a wise choice.
I bought a Civic VTEC from Ashford honda in '92 - no prob's at all - never used their service dept (too far from me) so cant comment there.

A wise choice indeed, I'm on my second 'S' after a 300ZX TT and a couple of M3 evos, and I can certainly vouch for the fun factor
There's plenty of torque, after it's run in (it gets stronger up to 5k miles), and as my R1 Yamaha friend would comment, that it's almost impossible to keep up with through the twisty bits.
The car is a real classic, and we're fortunate that it does not wear the burden of a German/Italian exotic price tag. I don't understand why Porsche owners cough up

Top choice Neil!
I've had mine for 10 months and have done just over 11k miles - and it has not lost it's 'grin' factor!
Some of the reactions you get are superb. I had the 'pleasure' of driving into London on Sunday. Was in a queue when a Focus with 4 guys in pulled up alongside. Passenger leans out and asks if my car is quick. Said to him about 5.5 - 6.0 seconds, depends who's quoting and who's driving! He came back with 'b*ll*cks, it's only a 2 litre engine'.
Gave him one of my best raised eyebrow looks and said 240 bhp, 9000rpm - trust me it's quick! To say they were speechless was an understatement! (Apart from the marriage proposal that is )
As I drove off they all gave the thumbs up and comments like 'top car' etc. Now I don't need a bunch of lads to persuade me that buying an S is the best thing I have ever done - but it made me smile for the rest of the afternoon!
So Neil - get out and enjoy it!!!!!

since the Zymol's gone on - my S has gone up at least 10k in my personal appreciation factor.
unfortunately I have had a few "isn't this just an MX5" comments,
especially when they ask how big the engine is - "only 4 cylinder - like the MX5, it's Japanese - like the MX5" and so on....
you just about to start the bit about VTEC technology and the 125BHP/litre which is more than a Ferrari can muster and they have already stopped listening.
I don't really care, as they will never get a chance to drive it
