Buzzing on Acceleration
Occassionally, on accelerating from about 4K revs in to VTEC I am experiencing a low volume high frequency buzz/rattle, which at first I thought was the dashboard on the passenger side but now I am wondering if it could be something else??!! It doesn't happen all the time but always seems to raise its head when someone is in the passenger seat!!! Just to clarify, the buzzing is definately coming from the car and not the passenger!!
Nothing seems to be loose and it only kicks in on acceleration NOT deceleration.
Has anyone else experienced this acceleration buzz ? - it's driving me mad!!

I've had buzz on acceleration, but higher up the rev range.
I do also have buzzing around 4000rpm, but just on deceleration. The same noise happens at 7000rpm+ on acceleration, and deceleration.
With help, I found the noise was transmitted to the cabin via the gearlever. It's simple to see if the noise goes when the hold the gearlevel.
All I can suggest is finding out what you can, then taking someone from your dealer out to deomstrate the problem.
My car is due to have the new -55 spec clutch fitted. They are doing this to eliminate this as the problem - I have similar symptoms, but others as well. So this isn't certain to fix the problem.

Cheers Brian - I will do some experiments tomorrow to see if I can isolate the buzz to the gear lever. I have only 3.5K on the clock it's a 2001 model and I was petrified that it might be the clutch. My local Honda dealer doesn't seem to be very clued up about anything to do with the long-term running of the car and I really don't fancy them ripping at the mechanicals as part of a clutch replacement at this early stage.
Like me (Leeds), I notice you are in the Yorkshire area - can you recommend any "good" dealers I could speak to if I can't crack the problem???
