Without being pedantic you should ALWAYS wait until the draft has been cleared it isn't cash even if it's genuine.

Someone could give you a bankers draft say, then walk away with your car. Then they could simply phone the bank and say the draft has been 'lost' and stop it.

Sean Horsey - Isn't that the Irish Gypsy played by Brad Pitt in "Snatch?".

Thanks for all the help and advice guys.

Deal has been done, No hassles with the transaction. Two guys came to check the car, nice enough guys, knew what they were looking for.

Payment was in the form of a bankers draft and some cash. I performed all the checks on the draft with both his bank and mine. Banked the draft straight away, the draft cannot be stopped, the cash is guarantteed - so my bank told me. But still has to go through the clearing process (so they can make some interest basically!)

So the car has gone, sad but excited as I can really look forward to moving into my new place and searching for a new run-about.

Didnt get chance to ask about the tyres im afraid, I was chasing banks for 30 odd minutes.

Why don't you arrange to meet him outside/near to a branch of the bank on which the draft is drawn from?
