IMO, I wouldn't put anything less than SUL in a JDM car.
Unless it's white you want, or a lot cheaper than UK equivalent, I can't see the point in actively looking for a JDM car. Nothing at all wrong with a JDM, but there's just more UK choice and there are added risk issues like not getting any service history and clocking.

My first s2000 was a 2001 uk model and my current is a 1999 Jdm.
The Jdm was far far cleaner on the underside, although it had not been undersealed. I did that myself at a cost of about £20, and it's really really sealed!!!
Insurance wise I didn't notice any difference, although I did recently take out a motor trade policy for my Job so it's no longer an issue.
For me I didn't care about uk or Jdm, I just wanted a yellow s2000.
I yoinked out the half and half seats and fitted uk spec seats with heated elements.
Also for those lucky Jdm owners often you find some nice surprises.
Mine had spoon springs, endless brake lines, spoon ecu, spoon throttle body, spoon thermostat which were a bonus on top of the mods I already knew about.

Mine too. I was also able to work out the dates (which aren't the same as western dates). I had a similar Mitsubishi service book with my FTO.

You'll get part VINYL part fabric seats with s JDM, I like mine, I had full leather in my last car and it was too cold in winter and too sticky in summer, all depends how much of a penchant for dead cow you have.
Chris.
