Default Bumper Damage

Long of the the short is this: I was intent on having my front bumper filled and sprayed this month so I can move my number plate and look cool lol. On Sunday some numpty in a 6 series rolled into the back of me on a chain ferry. I was in the parked, engine off, handbrake on and car in gear, the bump shoved the car forward a little. The weird thing though is that the harder I look the less damage there seems to be to the point were all I can see is that number plate thing has moved slightly (can be moved by hand) and a small dent/scratch.

The picture shows the shape of the bumper, could you tell me if its the right shape or not as I've never paid any attention to it before?

Is there any hidden damage I should look for behind the bumper?

If there really is no damage I'll save myself the hassle of insurance and live with it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

And sue the prick on the 6 series - I'll wager he shouldn't even have had his engine running at that stage

Engine wasn't running, he forgot the handbrake and was taking a picture - what a dousche. I thought a whipcash claim would be a bit excessive and immoral lol.

Where's the fog light mount?

2004 car, if yours is a facelift you havn't got one, if the scratch bothers you get him to cough up £50 for a chips away guy to touch in the paint. Otherwise hes bumped your bumper thats what its there for.

It's 54 so no fog light then, result.

Touch up sounds good idea, I'll get it done by the bloke doing the front bumper actually.

Thanks guys.

I'd just say touch it up, poosibly see if the chips away guy can get the dent out and then ask the beemer owner to stump up for it.
No point putting that through insurance surely.

I like that you aren't even thinking about whiplash, etc. Too many people do this and in the end, we only cut our own throats come renewal time!!

The whipcash claims are money for nothing but my morals and clean conscience are more valuable to me.

I'll phone the BMW owner later I think and go with the chip touch up plan, maybe a machine polish for good affect lol.

Love the signature GIF thing by the way.
