I have photo's of an S2000 rear and a 968 rear side by side, I really wouldn't think twice about it, get them changed NOW !!

I spoke to the Ayr branch today and the guy seemed very hesitant, and would've blown me out had I not pursued it. I asked him to get in touch with the head office and find out what the procedure was for returning them.
I then contacted the head office myself and explained the matter to them, and the guy didn't seem surprised. I've now been informed the ES02JZ's are waiting at the Carmunnock branch (at my request), so I can get them fitted on the way home.

A non ES02 tyre, even if it is an S02, will be about 1" narrower were it touchs the road and will give you more oversteer and a less stable car.
