broke it..
unfortunately after a spell away in the garage, fitted a new water pump etc i finally got to run the car out after 71 miles. it all went wrong.
To cut a long story short the bottom end is believed to have gone, from research on here it sounds like it spun a bearing and it aint good. The garage its at at the moment say the Crank APPEARS to be okay, and COULD get away with shells..
what im wondering is, is there any companies who you'd recommend to do an engine swap. ie take your old engine, you give them x amount of pounds and you get a new refurb engine ?
Many thanks.
Rich

I feel your pain mate
I went with an engine swap, halfway through doing mine at the moment.
Keep an eye out on here for people breaking S2K's
People on ebay are absolute dreamers with their prices!

If the cranks ok, why not get new bearings?
My Dad got new bottom end bearings on his Celica after it ran low on oil, and it's been fine since, done another 60,000 miles no problems so far (he remembers to check the oil now!). Ok, it's a 1zz-fe and it doesn't rev like the s2k, but still, worth a shot isn't it? I think he paid £300 for the job at a local garage.
If it where me, I'd get new bearings, then drive it gently for 3k miles and change the oil (like running it in).

What happened Keith. You decide an M3 was too reliable? Or do you like every journey to be an adventure. You never know where you will end up breaking down
