Smile Brindley Honda Halesowen

Following on from the previous thread in which I highlighted that my local dealer (Brindley Honda Halesowen) would not fit aftermarket parts (Spoon progressive springs) on top of my 54k service, I decided to let them do the service minus the modifications (opting to get these done at a later date).

Prior to contacting Brindley Halesowen, I rang Worcester Honda for a 54k quotation. I was told that the plugs were not in the schedule and would not be done. The price quoted was

What poor service, typical of many Honda dealers IMO

When my Audi was serviced 2 weeks ago it was pricey but customer serviceaspect was streets ahead

Just make sure that the person fitting the plugs brings a torque wrench and that they should be tightened to 18ft lbs. Don't assume he will will know by "feel"

Good luck

Just a thought, but are there any specialists around (ie non-dealers with the right tools)? A colleague of mine always takes his BMW 330d to a specialist for BMW/VW, who charges less, has a bit more of a passion for the cars he services, and bought some BMW tools in specially to service his car. They also stamp the service book, which BMW recognise (confirmed recently when he needed some warranty work doing).

So, anyone ever found one?! Or are Honda too stingy to supply tools to anyone bar main dealers?

Try "Horizon Motorsport" at Cradley Heath:

http://www.horizonmotorsport.co.uk/

They are legends among the Lotus community and do Hondas as well.

See MLOC (Midland Lotus Owners Club) and search for Horizon to see the testimonials.

Right im thinking of coming back to the Honda fold in some manner.

If you dont mind taking the day off and waiting around and driving down to a main dealer then what about Crown Honda in Hertfordshire?

Im sure that peeps on here will agree that they know their stuff and they give good service and friendly and they def know about this site They still remembered me from 2 years ago and were more then helpful and honest with info i was after for the possible new car and had long old chin wag with the now ex service manager.

I think you ought to write a letter to HUK highlighting your experience.

If anything it may have the result of Honda better communicating with it's dealers on the issue of plugs for the 54k service.

Oh and I can't belive you missed the opportunity to throw his "we're Honda, we know better than an owner's club" line right back in his face.

I have used them in the past to service (dealership was called Nick Whale then) and carry out warranty work on my old VTI and CTR, they where ok, no problems. Last year I wanted my ever so corroded wheels on my S2K replacing under warranty and the young chappy (i think his name was Matt!) refused to claim for one of them as it was kerbed!! I had a discussion and then a argument but he would not budge. Then I took my car to their branch in Birmingham and the guy claimed for all 4 no problem, within 2 weeks the wheels came and where fitted.

I think the problem you have is that staff at these dealerships change alot, especially Brindleys as they have so many dealerships in the area, there is no guarantee that the guys you spoke to and dealt with the last time to your satisfaction would deal with your enquiry this time.

I have heard good reviews about avonvale, try them next.

Ladies and gentlemen, vote with your feet!

Do you have an email address for this dealer Stew?

I suggest we all drop them a line, so they are aware of how easily poor service echoes through these owners clubs - something they seem to know little about
