I got them to do the service as well while it was there as a precaution as it wasn't far off due anyway. Fingers crossed that's the end of it.Thanks everyone for the advice, even if it was scary!
Now all I have to worry about is getting my new speakers and stereo that I bought last week in properly...

Quick update, couple of weeks on and over a thousand miles later all is still well and the car drives as well as it ever did.
Fingers crossed it stays that way.
