Let's see i parted my previous car (cough) MG TF 160 after 12 months on uninspired motoring and no need for new pads, and before that my local indy always got such work. On this occaision i only popped in out of interest on my way to the indy but bit their hands off when i was quoted 85 quid.

To be honest i don't see what the major issue is here. You asked for a price, the service coordinator misunderstood what you asked for and quoted you a price, the misunderstanding carried on when you tried to clarify that the price was for all 4 corners.

You guessed correctly that there had been a misunderstanding as the quoted price was disproportionally low and tried to take advantage of their error.

You didn't get the advantage you wanted, complained, and the dealer principal contacted you and stated:

He has nothing else to add or say even though i point out that i am not after anything (not sure i'd want my car in there again) other than an acknowledgement of the error and that they are careful that it doesn't happen to someone else.
So you didn't loose out other than by not taking advantage of their mistake.

Would you have gone elsewhere if you'd known that price was for the front pads only?

I'd take it on the chin and learn from the experience!

Then follow Bibb's advice...

Westgate Honda in Grimsby: even for the 70 odd mile extra round trip, i'll be using a different $tealer from now on.
I got Burton's to do mine, as I was being lazy, and they're 50 yards down the road

I wouldn't really class it as bad service since there's apparently nothing wrong with the work done, it's just a misunderstanding. These things happen

Yeah they misunderstood but, to be honest, you were swinging the lead a bit and playing that misunderstanding.

I'd take it on the chin - after all they can afford to lose a brake pad customer. You can't afford to lose your brake pads. If you follow me.

As has been espoused already - I'll always use a local, trusted independent for oil changes, tyres, brakes etc. At 70k+, I'm only going to use Honda Approved for the tick in the service schedule.
