AS for the ferodo's being the culprit, yes and no. They just show the disks up as being the weak point of the braking system. Everytime you upgrade, you show up which is the weakest part of the system.

The DBA 4000 series discs i have are fine with the ferodo pads.

But again, the discs aren't cheap.

Has any one tried the drilled and grooved discs from these guys with their competition pads (Mintex M1144)?

Apparantly these are out of the same factory as BlackDiamond and the like!

Other wise it will be the grooved EBC discs and Red Stuff Pads!
I used to have grooved black diamond discs and mintex 1144 pads on my fiesta turbo.

I only choose them because they came top of the buyers guide in max power.
1. Resisted fade well.
2. Worked well when cold (can be a problem when the car is used on a day to day basis)
3. Superb stopping power
4. And made a great noise!

To be honest i thought they were awsome!! used to scare friends to death the way they could strip off speed.

I have not tried any other pad/disc combo other than standard so i guess im abit bias.

If i was to uprate my current S2000 id go for the same. Brilliant!!

I use portefeild pads and ebc discs, up to now they have been no problem even round the Nurburgring. just a question but do you temper the discs wen you install them?

I prepare the surface then run them in, gently heat cycling them.

Which porterfields are you using? R4S's weren't strong enough for me, they used to crumble.

you must be slowing down too much
it could be I am not as hard on my brakes, i would like to think its my smooth driving style but its probably more likely you just push harder and brake much later and harder. I think next step is bigger discs for better heat dispersion

TBH, can't see how they'd be THAT different - both use servo assisted hydraulically actuated braking systems with vented discs and floating calipers to achieve the same goal by means of the same energy conversion

Sure, fiesta may be lighter, but it had tiny discs and being FF it was a 66%/33% F/R weight distribution loading the front brakes more in comparison.

Survey, if you were happy with the performance of your Fiesta setup, I see no reason why you won't have the same success with the same setup.

Personally, I have had nothing but good experience with using Mintex brake pads and would reccommend them to anyone

Ox - We mentioned this on a previous thread, but why not go for some brake vents?

Chilled, i dont think most people will endore heat cycling on the way to work. Your recommendation maybe to good but dont forget you are on a track focused set up.
