Default Brake squeal

I changed the disks and pads last year when I bought the car and had a little bit of squeal after installation.
However about 4000miles later every time I touch the brake produces a squeal.
Is there anything I can do or did I do something wrong on installation? The brakes work very well. I purchased the discs and pads from "brakeparts.com"

regards

Graham

Have you checked that the disks are not worn?

Did you smear a thin film of Copperease on the BACK of the pads and all sliding sufaces when you installed them?

Also make sure everything is clean. Any grit etc behind the pad will cause vibration.

Did you use the anti squeal shims and coat them in anti squeal heat resistant grease?

Hi

I don't remember seeing any anti squeal shims, on the pads I removed or on the ones I received from brakeparts. I did however put copperease on the pad backs.

Can I buy the shims seperately?

Thanks for the help

They are not essential in that the brakes will work without them, but they're not called anti squeal shims for nothing!

There are anti-chatter sprins between the pads & the caliper mounting bracket.

You could bend them 'in' a bit, so they better locate the pads.

And more copper grease seems to help!
