My 02 S is in for a service at the moment and they have just told me I need new pads front and rear. The labour charge is horrendous so I'll do them myself but just wondered what I should be buying.
It's for fast road driving, not track work so would appreciate some recommendations and if anyone knows the best place to purchase I would be most grateful.

I have just been researching the same thing and have gone for black diamond pads from Tokyo express based on a recommendation in another thread. You can find them cheaper after a short search but the P&P was less from Tokyo Express.
While we are on this subject does any one have a 'top tip' for screwing the rear pistons back into the calipers (ie what tool do you use).

Ask them to do an MOT brake test.
As long as there is braking material on the pad backing, it will still register as if they were new.

But no doubt they just import them.
Think I'm going to buy some more redstuff as my fronts are now making the audible warning.

What is a brake test going to prove?

I have had two S's serviced by an NSX approved dealer and EVERY TIME with out fail I get told it need pads and or discs!
At the end of the day the dealer is there to make money and the service desk guys will be given incentives to do so!
BTW nice to see a Honda Master Tech dispelling a few myths and welcome along!

They are a bit of an in between, here is spoons translated description
"Brake pad: Feature (1) high fading characteristic (2) sufficient effectiveness at the time of low temperature (3) normal the abrasiveness which is equal (4) attack characteristic to the rotor is little, and so on is. Not only the material of the pad, these features which are actualized by the fact that the various factors which include the bribe and the like can be combined not only simply stopping power, acquire also the control characteristic which in order to utilize the negative inertia G which it occurs by braking, in cornering power is superior. As 200 - 300 DEGC with best minus G you can obtain rotor temperature, everyone can have self-confidence with the street, direct brake feeling is had."
I would summerise that to meaning "great pad for street"
lol
