Default Brake pad comparison

The pictures show the "Porterfield R4S brake pads". These are designed for "street/light track use, (the Porterfields on the right the OEMs on the left) as you can see the contact area of the Porterfields are quite a bit greater than the OEMs on the front, the rears are the same.

They are slightly thicker than the OEMs and have a dust escape channel.

We are told that the material they are made from is non-corrosive so there

Nigel was good enough to shoewme these when I was dropping off some bits and pieces for him, the difference in contact area especially on the fronts is amazing before you even consider the different compund, I can imagine these are going to be awesome track/fast road pads

I'm a very satisfied Porterfield R4S customer. They seem to be everything you'll need to outbrake the tires (with plenty of brake feel too) and lasted me about 9,000 street miles and a track day.

That said, I did have to slightly modify the backing plates to fit two of my calipers (one pad on each). It's a quick file job and has more to do with manufacturing tolerance than incorrect design, I think. Also, many of us over here have had substantial squeaking problems. They can be eliminated (usually) by using the stock anti-squeal plates and a good quality anti-squeal compound.

I put it on the inside and outside of the plate and mine don't squeal at all.
