Default Bracknell Tyres says "Don't change S2000 tyres from Bridgestone"

I have spoken to Bracknell tyres to get a quote for changing my boots to F1's in 245/45/16 (rear) and 205/55/16 (front) and Tim (the man there) advised me that the tyres would bulge off the rim and that the Bridgestones are the 'only choice'.

What should I do? - I want better wet weather tyres and some of you already have F1's and like them.

Do they bulge?
Did your tyre suppliers advise against?
Have you had F1's fitted by Bracknell?

TIA

Joe

That's total bollox, Joe. They told somebody else that too. F1s do not "bulge" off the rim. When I get home I'll post some pics I took of my car after I cleaned it on Sunday. You should be able to see mine OK. And they drive fine in all weathers too.

What basis does he have for that opinion for goddness sake Has he ever SEEN an S2000 with F1s on it? Has he ever DRIVEN one?

Pete, I knew you would come to the rescue :-) Thanks for the promise of the pics - i'll check them out later.

Did your supplier have anything to say on the subject?
Do you notice better wet weather handling/grip?

No to the first (basically because I didn't ask as I'd already researched the question to exhaustion here and on the US board, including getting info from The Tire Rack)

Yes to the second

Will tackle the pics when I get home about 5:30 ish

PS
The tyre people had never seen an S2000 before and had to be instructed by the dealer and me as to how to fit them (so as not to damage the wheels)

I am in real danger of looking like a total amateur here but are all alloys not the same? what should be done to protect the wheels? (probably a bit late asking after i curbed a spoke at the weekend turning round in a tight spot

The spokes stick out and if the fitter goes at it like a bull in a china shop, using the standard tyre removal tools, he'll bugger up the spokes. They need to know that before they start.

Joe, I've just taken some new pics for you (close-ups).

Go take a look at this link and tell me where the "bulge" is
