BP Ultimate
I filled up with Ultimate on Sunday and noticed the pump says its 97 RON, now given that a BP tanker also fills up the Sainsburys tanks and they sell Super Unleaded 97 RON whats the likelihood of this also being Ultimate Do you think its likely that the BP refinery makes two seperate fuels of 97 RON and anyway surely the Sainburys one is going to just as good and about 10p a litre cheaper? Think I'll start using the supermarket stuff and hope that Asda start doing the 99RON stuff here soon.

my car definatly runs better on bp ultimate than the sainsburys super unleaded. i would say they do vary the additives. After all the cost is in the cracking of the raw crude oil, not the mixing in of additives (i would guess)

Other way round Lower. They all buy thes same base fuel and add to it. Ive heard the Sheel guys actually put the Optimax extras in the tankers themselves.

But what additives? Unless they add a couple of kilos of rusty slag into the Sainsburys stuff then I can't see the point. Sorry not trying to be controversial but 10p a litre more Seems like advertising hype to me.

All sorts, cleaning agents, octane enhancers,
Depends what you drive, (repeating myself) but my scoob used to det a HELL of a lot more on NUL after using Optimax. Ive seen on PC how much ingnition timing can be gained from a good fuel.
Right - im staying quiet now - these fuel threads are becoming far too common!
