I've seen it, he wins in the end.!

Actually I'm itching to get amongst 'em but due to some sort of spam attack at Blueyonder there's big e-mail delays at the moment and I can't get my posting authorisation through!

I'd love to attend a friendly track day....

To be honest TT, Boxster pilots assume that cause they've read all this crap about dodgy handling that the S2000 driver they find in front of them is going to be ginger and only gonna nail it in the dry and when the front wheels are straight.

Wrong!!!...it's fun when they have to drop a cog to the gear they should have been in in the first place when my S2000 rear end squats and starts pulling way in....

"a corner...no this can't be allowed"

Zero,

I really really dont understand why you continue to fight our corner on Boxanet. Its not worth it.

Leave them alone to get on with their biased "Ive got a Porsche arent I great" based world. Admittedly Simon seems a reasonable enough chap, and is prepared to speak/listen open mindedly in the fashion I would expect of a true petrol head. However the rest of them I despair of. Whenever the S2000 is mentioned on Boxanet it is always with a thin veil of "oh I suppose its an OK car" barely covering the spite, badly informed opinions, childishness, and general put downs that enivitably (and quickly) ensue. In the same way as you are to a great extent preaching to the converted on s2ki you are preaching to the narrow minded on Boxanet.

I genuinely like Porsches, and if I could afford a 911 I would buy one. I like the Boxster (less so now thanks to Boxanet, despite me trying to remain measured, they have clouded my judgement) also - altho for me it always looks like something someone would buy if they couldnt afford a 911, and I find it hard to accept second best, sorry I digress. .. .. .
I also like Scoobies, Skylines, Elsies, Tivs etc etc. I dont subscribe to the "my car is better than yours mentality" and I try to be honest and open minded when comparisons are made, by and large Boxanet (I lurk there every now and again) is not for the same kind of people as me (or other s2k owners). I am quite happy to admit that lined up next to a 911 or a Tiv on most roads the S2000 would lose a race, and I know given the money what I would rather have - but for now I am happy - very happy with the S2000. What Boxanet users are not prepared to do is concede that there are other cars of comparable styling, performance, handling etc as a Boxster.

Im sorry, flame me for my opinion if you will Boxanet but the S2000 is a true rival for a Boxster S, and of course the lesser engined 2.7. This comes down to personal choice, and what is good for me is obviously not good for everyone. However this is the honest truth (may the good lord strike me down) :

I would rather have an S2000 than any Boxster, the 3.2 included - thats my choice.

Likewise I would rather have a new 911 C4S than my S2000.

Several of my friends have commented "if I had the money the S2000 is definitely what I would have on the driveway" - in reference to the Boxster as it happens.

A colleague of mine here has just traded in his Boxster S and bought an S2000 he has not dumped it in a hedge, and is more happy driving than he has ever been.

I am not saying the S2000 is the best car in the world, just that its worthy, well built, of incredible value, and a brilliant car to drive. This opinion is not welcome on Boxanet, nor I feel are we.

I am infuriated with narrow minded badge biased people. The thread you refer to is a great example as to why I contend you should leave them alone. The repeated comments about us "looking up to Boxster ownership" and remarks that we are inherently jealous of a machine we couldnt afford ? - Jesus, why dont we just set up a new website called www.ithinkIearnmorethanyou.com where we can squabble over things as banal and crude as what each other earns ? ? - do they really think that if I wanted a Boxster I couldnt afford one and henceforth I am to be forever jealous - christ how incredibly small minded not to mention wrong. If I wanted one Id buy one, I test drove it and I didnt like it, its not for me but that doesnt make it a bad car - It seems Boxanet users simply cannot understand that, maybe its something they talk about when they get together and drop their keys on the table at the latest Conran restaurant (which of course an S2k owner couldnt afford a starter in).

I have thought of using the "anonymous post" method on Boxanet to interject in a topic and simply state that all Porsches are sh1te in retaliation to an anti s2k post. But a) thats not what I believe, and b) I simply cant lower myself.

<heaves large sigh of relief after venting spleen>

Fair play to you for continuing to fight our corner Zero, but I just cant see why you bother. I for one give up with them.

R.

EDIT: 090503 13:30 - Really I should include Alex, Highway and a couple of others in my 'list of those who dont appear biased' - but on the whole my point stands. I would estimate 70% users fall into the group I describe.
