But not one of yours, so forget about any demands for payment!
I honestly can't say I've found the VTEC transition in the 04 too much different to in my 02. Yes, it's a bit less noticeable in anything other than first or second, but I never really thought it was like a huge kick from third upwards in the older car anyway.
But I guess my own perception is irrelevant in terms of a solution to Jo's dilemma. I suspect it may just be a question of familiarity and so finding some way of avoiding driving it every day might help with that. I know that the fact that I only drive mine at the weekends helps to keep it feeling "special" when I do get behind the wheel.
On the other hand, it could just be that you are fickle even by female standards, Jo!

Dreamer, I have the same problem as you... using the S as a daily driver. Its bound to lose some of the magic.
I just take my Mrs's Ibiza Cupra T to work for a week and that generally does the trick!
The ibiza's a nice quick car, but after a few days I find myself pining for the S again. Horses for courses I suppose, you could always flog the S, buy something different and see what you feel like in a few months. I find that spencing c

The S I took on the test drive did make me grin (it had 18k on it, can't remember the age), but although mine does on occasion I do feel let down by it - specifically the lack of VTEC kick, you don't really notice it at all tbh. I also miss the low down torque of the S3, but I was expecting that.
I never thought i could find my bike slow , but when we are riding them every summers evening i have been flat on the tank at wot in 3rd kicking the bloody thing for more .
have a rest from it .

Jo as I suggested use my Clio for a week and I will take your S keys away from you so even if you are tempted you cannot drive it.
That way you can see what your reaction is like when you come back to it after a week of denial.

That'll work.
I got my Lexus thinking I would be able to live with it, got bored within a month and was chuffed to get back to the S. Month further down the line and I'm not that inspired but then I take a ulysse up to Ikea on Saturday
Get back and jump in the S - freezing cold and dark so I get the roof off ASAP and fire her up. LED's flash back and forth like freakin night rider and I drift out of the company car park playing the new Daft Punk album
Seriously - the car felt low, squat and angry compared to the Useless, steering wheel felt like it was from a dodgem car, pedals and steering feel heavy but precise and not a chance of any body roll.. noticed all this within 30 seconds of getting back in the car.
Could you get an older S2000? Be a more involving experience.

Jo, how many miles has your S got on now? Could be that the engine isn't run in yet. I heard a comment from an owner that there was a big difference after 10k miles as the engine had really loosened up.
