I've never been overly happy with the way you have to shut the bonet on an S - on my old (2001) one I either had to drop it to latch and then REALLY push down to get it shut, or throw it down from 2 feet up. I checked my oil before setting off to view my new one and sure enough, after 5 minutes on the motorway at 80, the bugger got wind of where I was going and why and popped up to the latch in an effort to stop me. Shat myself and hard shouldered it quick style! Only time in 4 years though.
During the examination of the new car four hours later, I obviously tested how easy it was to close the bonet! Easier on the 05 but not easy like any other car I've driven - still needs to be slammed a bit harder than I feel happy doing!
OK, carry on.

I know my bonnet latch was on its way out. After looked on close inspection several springs had rusted which was a problem waiting to happen. If you glance at it you wont notice but have a good look.
