Spuffington - Just imagine if that had happened when you had taken off

A mate of mine had this happen on his 205 GTi years ago except it didn't stay on the latch.
Smashed the windscreen and damaged the roof (and obviously the bonnet too)

You reckon the snorkels can cause this ? had no problems yet but i do give the bonnet a good slam to shut it .

The bonnet is also supposed to sit on the rubber closer buffers.
If you raise the catch, it allows the bonnet to jiggle, which is bad for the catch.
Which is why it's the wrong approach: bash the bonnet frame wiv' 'ammer! Then the Spoon-style snorkle fits fine.

Let me clarifly my comment about the Muz snorkel. I didn't want to modify the undside of my bonnet, or raise the bonnet up for fearing of it catching in the wind at speeds (like what almost happened today). So I cut into the snorkel to get it to sit lower. It's only made of fibre glass and it's cheaper than cutting into my car, and making a mistake. I only took it off last night because it was rubbing on the underside of my bonnet, not because I thought it was preventing the bonnet from closing correctly.
I've looked at the catch again, and it seems to be okay, no sign of corrison or damage. I've done some more M'way driving since, and I'm happy that it's not a fault with the car...........just a fault with the soft oragnic bit sat behind the wheel

Spiffington :-
Thats what the takeoff brief is for, well done mate.
Many moons ago i rotated in a Piper arrow on a 7000ft RW. Cowling opened and went into prop.
Takeoff aborted, (Throttle+mixture) landed on remaining rw and rolled to a stop !
I think my student and I were asked over 30times if we had checked the clips !
I had an old road/rally car, bonnet opened twice on that ! Jumped out bent it back into shape tied down with my shoe lace and then RACE ON !!
I certainly wouldnt want it to open in the Honda, specially with roof down. The bonnet looks long enough to bend around the windshield top and maybe give a bruised napper.

Is that covered under warranty? If so I'd make a claim and get it replaced!
