i toyed with the idea of doing such mods to previous cars.
for the price, it's a bargain and a nice feature too.

question: does the bonnet raise any higher than it would normally?
Mine raises 1ft higher!!!

I have the Tein ones and it is about 1ft less.

Most of the time it isn't a problem.

Do they not get in the way when you're topping up oil? It looks like you'd have to reach over them?

They come with a wooden crate to stand on when doing oil changes

I can't see it being a problem.

Good thread Gav

I fitted a pair of NRG "hood dampers" a while back and I've had no problems to date. The bonnet now opens more making it easier to top up with oil and work on the engine in general. My only complaint is that mine where second hand and one of the ball joint housings has split slightly so the damper moves a bit and rubs ever so slightly against the wing. No big deal tbh.

One thing to note that because the bonnet opens more it can rub against the rubber/plastic shielding at the bottom of the windscreen, again no big deal but worth mentioning.

I was going to get a pair of Tein's but I don't see how they can justify that crazy price tag for them

Yep, only time will tell. I recon they'll either last 6 months or 6 years!
