Bonnet dampers/gas struts..Why hasn't everyone got them?

Chaps, considering the bonnet is normally dropped from above waist height to ensure it latches, (As I discovered what happens if you gently drop it when I first bought the car) how do you ensure you have latched the bonnet correctly when the struts will be at best dampening the drop. (At worst, trying to make the bonnet go back up)

I would never do that as you could bend it only being made of ally

Ah, as I have always done in my other cars. However when the bonnet tried to part ways with me the day after I bought my S, I was told on here than the bonnet should always be allowed to drop from above waist height to ensure it latches correctly. (Not as much mass as steel)

Not the case I take it?

I drop mine now I have the OEM bonnet back on, but you can also push it carefully close the the end. If you push it from too far up it will bend / dent.

I gently lower and push mine. Plus, with people being different heights and all that, surely "waist height" is a bit vague...

Tdi north supply the tein ones, eight speed supply them or even Vtec direct.

What really annoys me is people who pick the bonnet up and then just drop it from a height/slam it shut!. I place it down and then gently press on it.
