Default BMW X5 they can shift

Met one the other night on the way to work. i over took him on the inside lane as he sat at the lights. i approached to the lights turning green so went into the inside lane. at the next set of traffic lights he launches really hard up the road. so i gave it a bit of vetec but by this time he was well away. think it the new 4.6 / 4.8 beasts. didn't help me sat there at idle.

i walloped a 4.4 before off the lights and pulled a few cars up to about 110 kmh so i am thinking he was in a more powerful motor or caught me off cam off the lights.

well how fast are they anyone got any performance figures.

Who cares about the performance? It's hard to know what is uglier - the design or the price. You could have a nice car for that kind of money and you wouldn't be buying a German bubblecar maker's wares

I agree - it's not pretty.

Could be worse though - M-Class anyone?

I like the look of them too.

Funny you should say that about the handling Putney.
When they were first released, BMW released them to the press on a race track. One of the UK TV programs was there, Top Gear or someone. And it really handled awesomely, I don't mean for a 4x4 but they said it could out handle some cars.

The 4.4i, of which there are plenty on the road will so 62mph in 7.5secs. Which is not bad for something that weighs over 2 tons.

I have toyed with the idea of getting one a few times but I am still at that age where I would rather be driving an open-topped sports car.

IMO Drug dealer car which is more about image than anything else. Get one with blacked out windows and enormous wheels to look like a real tosser.

I`m down with that comment. I saw one on the M6. Must of been on 24s or 26s, the rubber looked like back elaccy bands. Totally blacked out.

Looked like a complete tw@ts car. I`d have loved to see the driver, bet he was about 5'5'.

Even Westwood doesn`t drive one, they are THAT bad.
