Default Black number plates

After doing a simple photoshop I bought a black/silver plate and like the look of it on the front of the car (silverstone).

Am I asking for trouble?

Depends how stringent the Police are in your area, but I would say yes, you will be running the risk of being stopped.

Yep its only legal to fit them to your car if it was registered pre 1973 so you'd best await the as I'd guess the general consensus is that its as bad as having a 3/4 size front plate or your number plate in your windscreen...

I don't understand how so many people get away with it, I must admit.

When they won't even send out a copper if your house has been burgled?

£60 on the spot, repete offenders up to £200 and three points.

The thing that annoys me most nowadays is all the German lookalike plates... Metal plates with German fonts, D in the euro bit but thennnot be brave enough to put a white one on the back! What's the point?!

I run a 3/4 front plate and I've never felt like I was looking over my shoulder worrying about the Police. Sure if I got stopped they'd mention it and no doubt fine me for it, but I understand that's the risk I run.

It's a very quick Photoshop, but it gives you an idea. Personally I don't think it works. I saw someone who put one on a Black S, and that did look good.

With regards the German style plates, I'm sure I read somewhere that you could now fit them, even to UK cars. It was something to do with all European style number plates were legal in every member state I'll do some more digging to see if I can find where I read that.............probably though.

I think that's bullshit.

Definitely the D in the euro bit is illigal, and in the UK you're only allowed 1 font and that's the standard one.

Yes of course foreign cars are tolerated with their foreign plates, but I'm pretty sure making your car look like it comes from another country is not.

You could stick your reg into a tiny white plate with red letters and stick a B on the back of your car and all your tickets would go to belgium!

Same goes for the italian front plate, it's smaller than the one on the back, which is tolerated here on an italian car but what happens when you do it?

Unfortunately I don't think that is the case, the font has to be the same in the UK so that speed cameras can recognise it IIRC (think I saw that on Road Wars or some similar programme).
