I was driving through Plymouth in the beater when the van in front of me ran over what I thought was a road sign.
It flipped up and span through the air (Im doing about 50mph) and connected with the front bumper.
It was actually a brand new builders spade and it came down on the bonnet like a meat cleaver - the handle struck the bumper and it was upright.
Did a lot of damage but luckily it didn't come through the windscreen.
My dad still has the slightly bent spade
...certainly must've hurt when noticing the damage afterwards though.

i was on the way to donington bike gp a few year back. i was on a z750 with 4 into 1 exhaust with the 4 headers meeting just under the engine. i saw a rabbit in front & it dashed out just as i went past. in my mirror i saw it flying into the undergrowth so assumad it was ok & didnt stop. when i got back home after the gp i gave the bike a once over only to find the rabbits head grinning at me from the 4 into 1 union under the engine!

I hit a pigeon once, and fully expected to have to remove bits of dead pigeon from my radiator when I got home. Fortunately all I found was feathers (there's still a few in there).
