This is great info as i've just been told by my Honda dealer that they believe its down to the light flywheel and haven't mentioned all the other possible problem areas which are mentioned in this post!

I might print this out and ask if they also looked at all the other areas to see if this solves the issues im having.

Hi there, glad it was of use.

I would use the updated one in the FAQ as it has a few new bits in

(click on the common problems bit)

Wonderful post. Thanks. 1 inch of slack was in the throttle cable it fixed low rpm hesitation, and the map whack has cured vtec! can't beat free fixes.

Ive recently noticed a few issues with my S2000. I have a scangauge and i have set it to let me know when im in closed loop and what the short term fuel trim is currently running at.

I changed the plugs on the car about 4 weeks ago to BKR7EIX-11.It was a mistake by the motor factors but i figured they wouldnt effect the car that much. Since fitting these plugs the fuel economy has dropped through the floor and the car kangeroo's when cold. Checking the long term fuel trim it was stuck at 0 where as before the ECU had adjusted the mixture to -10 on the PFR7G-11S. Checking the short term fuel trim shows similar results with it going back and forth between -2 and +2 but never getting high enough for the long term trim to adjusted the mixture.

I decided to pull the plugs today and fit the OEM recommendation. Old plugs came out quite sooty seeing as they are only 500 miles old. Straight away on idle the mixture was being adjusted by the ecu and within about 15 minutes the ECU had adjusted the long term trim to -9. Give it a while longer and im sure it will get back to what it was before.

Visually the plugs dont look much differant but obviously the subtle differances must effect the S2000 and how the fuel mixture burns.

Some other observations with the scangauge is that closed loop is enabled at a coolant temperature of 50c. The vast majority of driving is done whilst the engine is in closed loop mode. Its only when you really start to get harsh with the throttle that the engine will go to its preset map. It just goes to show how important the oxygen sensors inputs are in the cars everyday running. Mine is 50,000 miles old so i have ordered a replacement.
