Best driving road?

I will be going for a healthy thrash around N'umberland tomorrow - some of my favourite roads including the military road past Albermarle Barracks and the back roads around Prudoe / Ovingham / Wylam. If I get time, I want to take a run out to Rothbury via Scots Gap / Fontburn but will see what time / fuel allows.

Had a very enjoyable day going up and down the roads around the back of Carlton and Great Ayton area, the back road to the A19 from Northallerton is a real favourite

it's a straight line with numerous entry and exit points though (hence the high accident rate)

I'd have to nominate the roads around Fort William - some challenging curves and gradients with excellent lines of sight

France is better just about everywhere though - the majority of the N roads are marvellous - and empty
