Default Berk Decat - CEL

Hi Guys,

Recently I changed the exhaust on my car and this included changing the cat to a Berk Decat pipe, I've done around 500 miles since this mod and loving the extra sound and performance it's giving me at the moment!

Unfortunately, over the past week I've had the CEL come on, this is code P0138 which points to the sensor on the cat I think. I've cleared the light twice for the same code and it came on again today. Other than that the car is running superbly as it should.

Any thoughts on fixing this (apart from putting the cat back on!), should I get an anti-fouler to solve the issue?

Cheers
James

I wouldn't worry about it being on, just get the anti thingy plug.

This is strange as it was fitted to my car and it never threw a check light, the berk pipe you bought from me already has the anti-fouler built in??

OP - please fill in the details about your car.

eg there is some mention of even decats with anti-wotsits and Berk with a built in wotsit still thowing cells on certain age of cars.

Did you get grease all over the sensor?

If I remember correctly his car is non DBW, I have never seen the car but he has fitted my complete mugen manifold exhaust and berk decat and believe is running that K&N heat soaking intake device

Cheers guys. My car is a 2005 with Sti's full Mugen System and decat. Like I say it's only just started coming on after 500+ miles.

It doesn't come on on the way to work but does on the way home which is a little strange. My journey to work is only about 10 mins.

Nothing wrong with the K&N Solved any heatsoak issues by sealing the big gaping hole around the intake pipe and sealing other areas of the heat shield.

Have to get under the car to check the sensor.

should also have bought the Mugen intake - It's great.

I think you can still use an Anti-wotsit even with a Berk decat, although it's designed to have an extension built in to get around the problem.

might you have damaged the sensor when fitting the decat? if you dont remove the wire retainers you have to twist the cable a lot to unscrew it all the way.

BTW. If you search on Berk and Testpipe you will find lots of threads from US owners that have had similar issues and have added the anti-fouler and then been OK.
