I'm also very intrigued by this piece of advice. The S is unusual in the number of gears available in a given situation. You can be cruising on the motorway at 70 in sixth and get held up by traffic. When the road clears you have a choice of four gears. 6, 5, 4 and 3 (if you want to get away from the Boxster behind ). So why not block change?

Can you help us out here Mark?

Problem with block changes is the instant acceleration to the engine (although at least it checks your con-rod bolts are tight )

Also safer for the valves as it increases your safety factor and hence less likely to overrev

Apart from that block changing is no problem although I'd hope to be predicting traffic a bit better than just dumping from 6th to 3rd

It was in the thread entitled 'overrevving on the down change' I think - about page 7.

Still dont have the car back.

I happend to be passing Priory on Sat morning and saw my car in the workshop so stopped and went in. I did not bother going to the desk just walked straight into the garage....What a fecking mess....bits everywere I felt really disturbed to see my car like that, I wish I had my camera with me.

I spoke to the mechanic and asked when I would have it back and his words were "hopefully Tuesday or Wednesay if we can work out were all the bits go" - WTF I just hope this was an off the cuff remark, I have absolutley not confidence in Priory Honda Cambridge at all.

Currently I am drafting a letter to Honda UK pointing all of the problems and asking for a free extended warranty.
