Bare-faced cheek
Driving back from a weekend on the Lleyn Peninsular stop off in Llangollen to ease bladder and grab a cup of tea. Reverse into parking space, nothing in the space immediately behind me. Do the business in nearest loos, wife buys me tea and after 15 mins return to car to continue onwards journey. Get back to car to find a crap Vectra parked 2 inches from my rear bumper (I'm well parked with about 6 inches from rear of my car to line at rear of parking space). Say to bloke just getting out of Vectra 'you're parked a bit close there mate'. Immediately he jumps back in and guiltily moves Vectra back 2 inches. Now notice circular cover thingy on rear bumper hanging off and smallish gouge out of bumper around number plate. Bloke says 'it was like that when I got here'. I say 'I've only been gone 15 mins, and it's a bit suspicious with your car 2 inches from my rear bumper'. As he was bigger than me, and damage was only minor, decided discretion was better part of valour and valiantly drove away. Wife says to me that rest of family looked very guilty!!! Was I jumping to conclusions?
I don't mind the odd minor bump/scratch etc but when someone damages your car and then has the bare-faced cheek to deny any involvement really gets my goat!!
Spleen now suitably vented.

Damage is hardly noticeable - you have to look really closely to see it. If the damage was 'significant' then I would have been apoplectic.

The question is how did he know it was like that when he got there? That states he has prior knowledge of the status of your car.
Does he always check the conditions of the cars he parks close / next to? I think not. Or maybe I am just suspicious

Sue his ass!
Bad luck, its better than doing the damage yourself. I've been in a sadist state last month, reversing into a fence and opening bonnet with wipers up. I might start crying all over again
