Default bad expensive news :(

So after i noticed a ticking sound and the oil pressure light flickering sometimes in traffic when i'm on a slight hill, i booked my car in to TGM on Friday, Tom confirmed my con rod bearings were basically f@#ked and it was knocking. The car had 2 previous owners and full service history prior to me owning it, i checked the oil weekly and it doesn't use any oil at all. I've never miss shifted in it and it has had 3 oil changes in my 6 months of ownership. the car is on 63k and is a 2004.

So need i have come to a conclusion; Buy a cheap daily and save up for a new engine or get a loan and get a new engine fitted.

If i do get a new engine for it, i found a few on ebay that include a fitted price:

or for just the engine:

If the block is still good how much would it be for a re-build?

The issue is normally the block is knackered

Exactly, one of those owners might have let it run too low on oil, it doesn't take much.

Sorry to hear that Dai Bill. You've not had the car for long.

Hope you get it sorted.

Personally I would get your existing engine rebuilt
That way at least you know that it will be solid with a few choice mods

Its not as simple as that, very few people have had s2000 engines rebuilt with success. The fibre reinforced cylinders need to be machined properly and companies are very reluctant to do it. I know someone recently had theirs sleeved which seems like the way forward in the future.

What do TGM advise?
