Default Back to the S

I've not been driving the S much at all lately. I have a commute of 150 miles 4 days a week so getting into a car at the weekend holds very limited appeal. The commuter/beater is a dull but mile eating Vectra 2.0DTi (man you should see the in gear times, it's faster than a veyron 0-10mph in 5th) with all my cds stacked in there in there, even some food, it's like a mobile room with a big comfy chair and quiet on the mway.

BUT.. the veccy has been throwing cels recently and this morning it stayed on so I decided i'd take the S..

what a difference. i'd forgotten how much i enjoy driving my car : the accelaration, the positive steering, the harsh ride, the noise!

it's like chalk and cheese. if only it could do 50mpg i'd be back in it like a shot.

looking forward to driving home now.. even though it's friday and the traffic will be sh4t.

so.. don't take it for granted i guess is the message. and dont forget it is special!

Just got mine back after three and a half weeks of driving a 1200 Jazz, and I'm having to run it in for 600 miles, so no VTEC, but I still love it!

I only went into Crewe to wash the car underneath (I don't have a jetwash ) and it was the first time I drove the car in a week.

Beater is a 90bhp TDi Seat Toledo.

The most amazing thing about getting back into teh S was the brakes.

It stops soooo well and wants to dive into the corners

Yeah its easy to take car's for granted when you drive them every day... - and even more easy when you dont drive anything else

Actually, I've drove my colleague's Land Rover back to work, - quite enjoyed it actually - as much as I hate the influx of huge 4x4s this country has seen

I drive a 1997, 997cc 3 cylinder Corsa as a beater. To me everything is better in the 'S'. ...... Well except the fuel economy

what's the best beater mpg then?

i get 52mpg out of my Vectra 2.0DTi. it's slow though but revs pretty low at 90mph on a track

and throws up CELS at the minute

i had a 106D 1.5 for around 2 years... did 550miles on a 40L odd tank.... now i use my S as my daily drive - that and a 2.5D discovery.. but the S seems better on MPG !

62.5mpg!

award to Tom so far.. i looked at the saxo 1.5d but i travel on the mway and thought i'd be safer on a bike those things must weigh nothing

i'll see how well the S does later. i reckon 35mpg.. possibly. which on ++ petrol is

MPG = no fun!!

My beater is the S! and at weekends i use the missus' Golf TDI. is that wrong? its down to the private mileage, however a trip to site at work is FOC!
