The hood on the tracky (i dont) slag was looking a bit worse for wear

so i looked around, what are the options?

i wanted to swap from the big flexi screen to small rigid

Monsoon - £932 for the hood plus fitting. down south, bit of a drive https://monsooncarhoods.co.uk/produc...5OHlTnBqn-aUVN

these guys, £1,1k supply only https://www.cabriosupply.co.uk/cabri..._-s2000-black/

carhood Kent £1.2k fitted https://www.carhood.com/soft-top-dir...nda-car-hoods/

stockport £1.2k fitted Honda S2000

Devon, £800 fitted https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183786093755

or Raymond Pugh, £400 fitted (now £450) Swansea

so i took the cheap option as his reviews are great

it's a 200 mile trip so i booked a day off, headed down the night before and stayed at the holiday inn just out of the city (North?) - £93 for a night and it is cheaper if you book earlier

my car only like high octane fuel so i filled up en route though there is a Shell in Swansea - i was not convinced i would make 200 miles on a tank but on the way back i proved i could

it was a phucking schlepp, loads of roadworks, 50 mph limits galore

swansea is your typical british seaside town, has seen better days but i was lucky with the weather, hood down the entire way there

beach was gorgeous for a walk

so before pic

during pic

after pic

I'm delighted at the result given the price

He won't hoover your car or anything like that, he will leave the remains of rivets but the hood is good imo and this car lives outside ATM

I will probably take the other one, if my back recovers

Total cost
1 day off
93 hotel
400 hood
125 fuel
Additional coffee

625

Great job...
I was going to take mine if I had kept it, as it was on the brink of needing replacement but didn't leak, just looking tired. And I think I had been replaced with a monsoon one 8 years ago. Alas I dodged that bullet.
He'll always be a busy guy charging what he charges.. it's certainly an art fitting them and tedious - like playing snooker against Peter Ebdon.
Chap I know got one fitted at that Stockport outfit, but sags at the window and had to have it redone.
I prefer the letterbox later window to the older placky screen - they do suit the car better in terms of looks despite the loss of vision against the tiring crinkly rear plastic version.

Agree on the rigid window. It's more durable, it matches the rear view mirror so limited loss and is more UV resistant. Mine was scratched to buggery, it was the Achilles of the early model, that shit roof

IIRC, with the window down - my plastic screen used to resonate at speed on the motorway. They haze over and form a dull line across horizontally from excess stress from the roof folding. Poor design.. most older plastic screens go like that.
I'm assuming you're not going to have it heated? Is it even wired in? Probably simple enough to do...

I'm not currently planning that.

400bhp.and 1200kg.. don't care what is behind me

On a serious note I don't use it in weather like that and have not really cared that it wasn't heated before and had more gorilla tape than window and the rest was opaque
