Pete - excuse the personal question, but how big/heavy are you and did you have a passenger at the time?

Im relatively small/light (10 stone?) and when alone the car feels a bit light at higher speeds.

Actually, an MX-5 is an ideal learning tool before the s2k, especially if someone is unused to RWD. Hiring/poncing one for a day or two would not be bad for "your friend."

The roads were pretty slippy today, cold and a little bit of damp can catch you out.
I went round a minature roundabout today (turning right), gave it a bit too much and the back end slid round (not intended) before exiting the roundabout. It probably looked like skillful driving but it was in actual fact, more luck than judgement.

Don't forget that the weight transfer under braking can unsettle the car a great deal too - I had a minor Pampers moment tonight whilst pressing on up the M6...its amazing how tight curves on a motorway can look at some speeds... I'll tell you this though its well worth the time spent reading the handling threads on the main board, Bieg and CT and others provide some good (read ass saving) advice (i.e. reapplying the throttle settles the car back into equilibrium).......

ROFL..

I know just what you mean Tif, you're really tramping on and you enter some of those motorway curves and you start to wonder about your positioning and whether you're going to keep a line. And those barriers are always really close. Not the time to lift off though!
